Youth Services Bureau
The YSB partners with schools, community agencies, and Town departments to develop, coordinate, and facilitate a network of resources that support the enrichment and engagement of young people in the Town of Greenwich. This collaboration allows the community to effectively anticipate, identify, respond to, and meet the broad needs of youth and families.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM.
The YSB facilitates the Greenwich Juvenile Review Board (JRB) and Greenwich Interagency Team (IAT). The JRB is a community-based diversion process for youth who might otherwise be referred to juvenile court for minor violations of the law.
Partnerships with the Greenwich Police Department, Kids-In-Crisis, and Child Guidance Center of Southern CT, Inc. ensure holistic support of young people in this program. The IAT, in collaboration with schools, provides a multidisciplinary and integrated approach to addressing the needs of young people in crisis. Both the JRB and IAT programs are guided by restorative justice principles and a commitment to connect youth to supports and services that will help them thrive in school, at home, and in the community.
HOW IT WORKS.
Support of the YSB allows for the creation and implementation of programs that promote inclusivity, facilitate positive peer interactions, encourage self-advocacy, and increase connections to advocates and services that inspire positive social and emotional development.
